Tips and tricks for your floors
Here are 5 simple tips and tricks for properly and efficiently caring for your floor – regardless of whether it's treated with oil, varnish, or hard wax oil, and whether it's in your busy kitchen or your cozy bedroom. Finding the right cleaning methods for your wood floors is crucial for the longevity of your parquet.
TIP 1
Wet mopping only when necessary
This is perhaps the simplest tip, but an important step in caring for your floor. As long as your floor doesn't have any stains or heavy soiling, it's often enough to simply wipe or vacuum it. This helps minimize the time the parquet floor is exposed to water. Too much water can lead to swelling or discoloration and permanently damage your floor. In the kitchen, you'll probably need to mop more frequently, while in the bedroom, dusting is often sufficient.
TIP 2
Dusting is key to scratch-free floors.
Vacuum regularly or use a dusting pad to keep dirt and debris off your floor. It's best to do this before mopping to keep your floor surface looking its best.
TIP 3
It all comes down to using the right cleaner.
Use a pH-neutral cleaner for your wood floors. Cleaners with a pH that is too high or too low can damage the parquet and its finish, and also soil the floor. Avoid products like paste wax and furniture polish, as they often leave behind cloudy, sticky residue. Vinegar mixtures and all-purpose cleaners can also damage the wood surface.
When cleaning oiled floors, be sure to use a floor cleaner specifically designed for oiled surfaces. This is not necessary for lacquered or hard-wax-oiled parquet floors.
TIP 4
Away with the cleaning bucket!
The golden rule is: use as little water as possible. Too much water can ruin your wood floor. With traditional buckets and mops, too much water often remains, which can cause unsightly stains over time. Instead, use a spray mop or at least a spray cleaner. This way, only a small amount of liquid reaches the floor, and it evaporates quickly. Furthermore, cleaning with a spray mop is much faster and easier than lugging a heavy bucket around the house.
TIP 5
Use a gentle microfiber cleaning pad
For quick and gentle cleaning of your floors, we recommend microfiber cleaning pads, which are specially designed for use on wood floors. These pads lift dirt and
They effortlessly remove deposits and require very little water. A further advantage: they are machine washable, which not only protects the environment but also makes your home more hygienic.
